Keaper Tiger // The Table Track Reviews

Melbourne/Naarm based band Keaper blesses our early October with a pair of tracks that showcase the bands’ ability to write emotive and incredibly layered alternative rock. Perhaps the most unique aspect of Keaper as a band is their dual sensory output. An audio-visual product, the 4 piece look to combine visual and sonic elements to create a fully immersive experience for listeners.

For the two newly released songs we see the band hone in on their alternative style that harkens back to the sub genres of rock that populated the 90’s. The tones of dreamy guitars and reverb filled vocals are reminiscent of the shoegaze era, as well the lo fi drum sounds that offer slightly more complex rhythms that add to the overall soundscape. The first track Tiger has a more conventional approach with an incredibly catchy two chord progression propelling the track forward with distant and hypnotic vocals taking centre stage. Even without the added visual elements Tiger inspires a very scenic listening experience. The down tempo and travelling beat make you feel like you are on a journey, a journey being narrated to by lush guitars and incredible lyricism.

The Table has a lot of similar elements to Tiger, however the small differences help make the song a unique experience. The different vocalist adds variety and depth, more reminiscent of late 90’s to early 2000’s emo in the delivery which match perfectly with the added focus on melodic guitars. As a pair both Tiger and The Table provide a consistent tone in both its instruments and mood while offering slight variations to make both songs stand on their own. An excellent taste of what is to come in the future.
