Our Favourite Frankston Friends TV Dinners return with their latest Garage Rock single Running On You. One of Couchdogs first ever interviews (which you can read here), the three piece continue to showcase the strength of simplicity. An incredibly catchy and well written piece of lo fi rock that provides an instantly memorable hook.
The production is consistent with their previous releases, a very late 90's - early 2000's grainy feel that accentuates the high end. This release wouldn't feel out of place in the early Jimmy Eat World era of the Mid/South West American scene. The guitars are biting with a Pop Punk progression that is played with harsher tones. This combination gives the listener a nostalgic melody of the radio rock of another time with a more underground feel. Since our previous conversation it is obvious the biggest move forward the band has made is with the lyrical and vocal presence in the choruses. A trademark of the previous TV Dinners releases have always been their personable vocal delivery and hooks, however Running On You provides their most polished presentation of catchiness yet. The seamless transitions between verse and chorus really highlights the progression in song writing and the vocal mix is incredibly powerful.
